How to set up your first VIP campaigns

You have most likely read our “How VIP campaigns can increase sales for your store or service” blog post telling you how valuable VIP text campaigns can be for your B2C business, but if not give it a read now you won’t regret it.

Let’s get straight to it. In this example, I will use a clothing store called Corner Fabric as an example and walk through how I would personally set up my text campaign sign-up and automatic follow up process.

1. Create a Simple Signup Form.

To begin I would try to collect as much information as I can without taking more than 1 minute of my customers time. The longer the signup, the more it feels like a burden rather than a reward. I would use a form creator that can integrate with Google Sheets in order to simplify storing your submission, my favorite is Typeform since they have a direct integration. I would make a very simple form to collect First Name, Last Name, Phone, and Email.

2. Create a QR Code

Once the form is published, I would copy the URL and go to a free QR code generator to create a quick and easy QR code. That way the user can scan the QR code to access the form removing friction by saving the customer time finding the form. My personal favorite QR code generator is The QR Code Generator. Now print out the QR code and place it by the checkout counter.

3. Connect Typeform to Google Sheets

In order to minimize manual entry and supervision, I would connect the Typeform form to a Google Sheets document. You can do so by going to the “Connect” page within your Typeform landing page, go to the “Integration” section and scroll down until you find the Google Sheets integration. Click the “Connect” button on the right-hand side and follow the instructions until it’s activated.

4. Connect to Respond Flow’s Text Automation Software

Now that you should have your leads information automatically generated on a Google Sheets page you should connect it to your Respond Flow inbox. Log in or create an account on Zapier – create a zap that triggers on “New Spreadsheet Row” and make it pull the leads Name and Number. Create an action zap to “Create New Contact” in Respond Flow.

5. Segment Your Users

Make sure to mark your new contacts as part of the VIP Campaign by adding a custom tag to all of the new users. Doing so will save you a lot of time and effort later on since you’ll be able to send a “Message Blast” to customers who have the VIP Campaign tag on their profile.

6. Start Building Your Community

By now you should have all you need to start living up to your promised value. We have several blogs about best-practice texting campaigns that are worth your time reading up on before starting to text. The secret is to offer value with every message without making it too detailed. Lead customers to a separate RSVP site or send images that hold the event details.
